The latest issue of Ohio Chronicles features the story of Addison White. Who is Addison White, you may ask. Addison was a fugitive slave from Kentucky who ran away to Mechanicsburg, Ohio where he met up with Udney Hyde, an abolitionist. Addison decided to stay in Mechanicsburg, and when the Federal Marshal came with Addison's "owner" trouble started. Addison refused to leave. The people of Mechanicsburg came to his rescue, even though it was against the law. Well, the trouble grew and grew until finally, only the governor of the state of Ohio could sort it out! You'll have to read it to believe this amazing and true story from Oho's past!
